Father's day is fast approaching and Sizzix have got just the thing to create your papercrafting projects, 6 free downloadable papers! They are gorgeously masculine without being grungy and as you will see below they include several really striking designs which coordinate beautifully. I was thrilled to see that one of my favourite masculine motifs of the moment was featured in the collection - the moustache! As my Dad has always had a moustache it seemed really fitting too!
I always struggle when it comes to Father's Day, my Dad always says 'Don't get me anything!', I am sure you can relate to this, after all at a certain age people do seem to have most things that they need. The one thing he does enjoy is chocolate and below I have fancied up a shop bought treat using a few clever die-cut shapes and the free papers.
The moustache on the Fathers day card has been created using two circle dies from the Sizzix Framelits Die Set 8pk - Circles #2
Here I have created a wrapper for the chocolate bar with a little clever placement of a rectangle of folded card, the size will be dependant on the size of chocolate bar you have but experiment with scrap paper to find a suitable size. I have used the Sizzix Framelit Set 6pk Banners, Fancy and when placing the die onto the folded card I have ensured that it fell short of the straight edge, as you can see this creates a long, double edged folded banner, perfect for wrapping around a chocolate bar!
The sentiment is included on the free papers, you have an option of cutting it out as a rectangle or to die cut it as I have using a die from the Sizzix Framelits Die Set 7pk - Charms, Fancy
The frame couldn't be simpler as you can see, the elements are all from the free papers and they are used to embellish a phrase created using a PC and printer.
Again I have used the Charms, Fancy dies to add interest to the rectangular shapes.
I have really enjoyed using these papers and keeping the ideas simple with a little clever die-cutting. Embellishing the projects using string and buttons add to the masculinity and makes a refreshing change from girly ribbons and sparkly gems!
