Memory Keeper

Today I have rediscovered an old favourite amongst the Sizzix die collection, the Flowers, 3D Bigz die.
This die looks a little daunting when you first see it out of its packaging because it doesn't appear to look anything like the image on the packaging!

This die cuts out two scalloped spiral shapes. Below is a short step-by step demonstrating just what to do to transform the flat shapes into something that is as cute as a button!

Twist the outer edge of the spiral around a wooden skewer and then with the point of the skewer facing towards the centre at all times keep twisting until you arrive at the stage below.

I find the most effective way of securing the flowers is to use a hot glue gun, apply a big blob and then stick the base section to the layered spiral. Honestly, it is really simple and once you have made one you will want to make more and more, it is so therapeutic!

I have used these flowers to decorate a Memory Box that I have created using photographs of a sweet little Portuguese baby called Leonor, I hope you like it.

Apart from the Flowers, 3D die I have also uses dies from the new Big Shot Starter Kit. I think the Butterfly works really well and looks like is actually floating within the square, this was achieved by cutting a piece of the skewer that I used to create the flowers to approximately 2cm and then sticking the end to the back of the box using a hot glue gun before fixing the butterfly to the other end in the same way.

The papers that I have used are a combination of MME Lost & Found 3 and I also used a little of the Follow Your Heart collection but in all honestly this is one of the best projects for using up your left over paper scraps.

Have a great week, I would love to hear your comments!
