Christmas Paper Inspiration

This week I have made some Christmas cards using the gorgeous free Sizzix Christmas Paper Downloads. The colours are really fresh and contemporary and I think you will agree that they are a refreshing alternative to the more traditional papers that are widely available. although they are modern I also feel that they are quite reminiscent of the 1950's which I absolutely love. I have selected dies which I think work perfectly with the papers because they are crisp and geometric but they would work equally well with more traditional Christmas motifs.

The downloadable paper collection includes a sheet of embellishments which include decorative borders and sentiments such as this cute 'Merry Christmas' message. I have created an aperture in this card with a circle Framelit and edged this by creating a frame using a scallop circle Framelit.
The self-adhesive gems bring the cards to life for some reason, well I guess we all like a little sparkle at Christmas time.

The Flowers, Star Framelit set comes with Stamps and although it is a little difficult to see in the photograph, I chose a silver, metallic ink to stamp the motif onto white card before cutting it out. I have attached the elements using foam pads which really add dimension to the finished card

My ever trusty circle Framelits have come into their own on yet another project here, there are some dies that I could not live without and basic shapes such as circles are one of those items that I always have to hand! I have offset the die-cut starburst shapes and embellished each with a gem, simple but effective I hope you'll agree.

Thinking about the usefulness of craft items has made me wonder what three things you wouldn't be able to live without when you are busy crafting, I would love to know!
