Hi there!

Here is a new lay-out more in the C&S style with a nice black & white picture!

Supply list:

Papers: Crate Paper, Echo Park
Cardstock: American Crafts
Transparency: Studio Calico
Rub-ons: Jenni Bowlin Studio
Chipboards: Studio Calico
Stickers: Studio Calico, Jenni Bowlin Studio
Dies-cuts: K Box Scrap Plaisir, Pebbles
Wood Embellishment: K Box Scrap Plaisir
Masking Tape
Others: 3D foam

Dies:

659749: Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4PK-Forever & a Day
658300Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit

I started by gluing my picture in the lower part of my page. I pieced together the same turquoise blue polka dots paper to build my background paper.
The left part of my page will be partially covered with a torn patterned tracing paper.

I used a die from the "Life made simple-Forever & A day" set that I’m particularly fond of.
It is cut out of kraft paper. I only kept the "I will love you forever" part which will serve as title.

Then I decorated my page as simply as possible: little gold stars, matching rub-ons, mini-stickers and die-cuts.

This is a lay-out I really like and that is realized really rapidly!

Have a lovely day,
See you next Thursday,

Karine

Hello !

Papiers : Crate Paper, Echo Park
Cardstock : American Crafts
Transparent : Studio Calico
Rub-ons : Jenni Bowlin Studio
Chipboards : Studio Calico
Autocollants : Studio Calico, Jenni Bowlin Studio
Dies-cuts : K Box Scrap Plaisir, Pebbles
Embellissement bois : K Box Scrap Plaisir
Masking Tape
Divers : Mousse 3D

Dies :

659749: Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4PK-Forever & a Day
658300 Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit

J'ai utilisé une découpe du set "Life made simple-Forever & A day" que j'aime particulièrement.

A jeudi

Karine

Well hello again - I hope you've been able to enjoy some beautiful sunshine - although today the sun is hiding behind the clouds at the moment - I still have hope of seeing it later!
I am pleased to say that I have completed 'Katy's' quilt and really like it - so here are the instructions for some of the blocks - I will give fabric quantities for each block.
The following Bigz dies are used throughout this quilt, with the Big Shot machine -
I am trying to keep the instructions simple - so use the photo of each block as a guide throughout.

We will start with
 Block 1 Crockett Cabin -

For this block you need to use the square and half square triangle dies.
You need white fabric - 8" x 12" - use die 657606 to cut 4 squares and die 657610 to cut 4 half square triangles.
Blue print and pink print - 8" square of each - cut 4 squares from each fabric with 657606
Green print - 4" x 8" - use die 4" x 8" 657610 to cut 4 triangles.
Join the green triangles to white triangles to create 4 squares,.
Join 2 pink and 2 white squares together to make a 4 square block, repeat once.
Join 2 blue squares and 2 green/white squares together to make a block, repeat once.
Using the photo as a guide join the 4 squares together to complete the block.

Block 2 - Patchwork Pinwheel
White fabric - 8" x 16" - cut 8  half square triangles and 4 squares
Pink fabric and peach fabric - 4" x 8"of each - cut 4 half square triangles of each
Blue print 8" square - cut 4 squares
Join peach and pink triangles to white triangles to make squares.
Join the pink/white squares to a white square and the peach/white squares to a blue square - using the photo as a guide.
Join these rectangles together to make 4 squares and then join the squares together to make the complete block.

Block 3 - Chevron

You need 16"square of white fabric - from which you need to cut 16 half square triangles.
Pink and blue print fabrics - 16" x 8" of each to cut 8 half square triangles of each.
Join the white triangles to the pink, and blue triangles to make squares.
Lay the square out to create the chevron pattern and join together in rows, and then join the rows.
Block 4 - Railroad crossing
White print - 16" x 12" and cut 6 half square triangles and 6 squares.
Aqua print - 12" x 8" cut 6 half square triangles
Pink spot print - 8" square - cut 4  squares.
Join the triangles together to make 6 squares.
Join the pieced squares to 2 white squares to create larger squares.
Join the pink squares to the remaining white squares and join to make 2 larger squares.
Join these 4 squares together.

Block 5 - Susannah
White fabric - 16" x 8" - cut 4 half square triangles and 4 rectangles.
Pink, orange floral, orange spot and blue prints - 6" x 3 1/2" of each - cut 1 trapezoid from each fabric.
Join a triangle to the end of each trapezoid to create a rectangle.
Join a white rectangle to each pieced rectangle to make a square.
Join the 4 squares together.

Block 6 Squares in squares.

White fabric - 10" x 7" cut 2 squares and 2 rectangles
Pink and black print - 14" x 7" - cut 2 rectangles and 4 squares
Pale pink print - 7" x 3 1/2" cut 2 squares,
Join a pink and white rectangle together on short side, repeat once.
Join a pink and black square to a pale pink square, add a pink and black and then a white square. Repeat once.
Join the rows together to complete the block.

Block 7 Half square triangle study
White fabric 16" square - cut 16 half square triangles
8 different prints - 4" square - cut 2 half square triangles from each.
Join the white and print triangles together.
Lay the squares out and then join together into 4 rows of 4.
Join the rows together to complete.
Wow -we're now 1/3rd of the way through the blocks - so look in again next week for the next set.
Also for those of you who remember my plan to re-organise my sewing room - a brief update - I sorted and tidied until I could see, and hoover the floor!! I have removed a large trestle table that I think I can manage without. The next stage is to put my quilting frame together - I'm just hoping I can remember how to do it - and then I will be able to cut lots of fabric to make some quick quilts so that I can practise my quilting.
It's a plan which I hope to achieve and if I do I'll share a couple of photos!
Meanwhile I'm off the hunt for some sun while I have a cuppa.
Before I forget - just a reminder that the Festival of Quilts is only 6 weeks away - cheer or scream -depending on how much you have to do before you get there!!!

Hello! It's Annahere to share some ideas using Sizzix products.
Today I have a card to show you. I have used some Sizzix Dies on this project.
I love my Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 3PK – Love of “Life Made Simple” collection. Put this die together with the Pop’N Cuts Card Base Big Shot Die and you end up with a unique card.
I gave this card to my friend for her birthday.
Here is the finished card:

cafe creativo - big shot sizzix - card pop up - Pop 'n Cuts (1)

To make the front card I die-cut hearts background out of light pink cardstock and I play with the small hearts.

Let's look at the card's inside:

To make the inside I die-cut two butterflies (from Bigz die of Starter Kit), a rose 3D and a label. Use embossing folders to create a textured background on the butterflies.

Per le amiche italiane! :)

Hi , how are you finishing June ? I have been full of work  but happy to start July and have a good rest in my summer holidays.
Well, today I have done a new project for Sizzix, it ´s a little bag for my wips that I want to take to my trip.
I´m sure most of you have scraps of fabric from last projects and keep them for something. This is a perfect way to use the squares die and give a new opportunity to those scraps.

Here it´s  the front.......

                                                                 .........  and back ..........

But first , we go with the supplies :

Scraps for  the squares  ( 20 )
Cotton fabric like rustic in brown- natural color :
Front of the bag
10" x 4.5"(  1 for the pocket back )
10"x 1.5 " ( 1 for the bias upper pocket )
10" x 2.5" (1 for the upper piece  )
10"x 8" (1 for the botton piece with pocket )
Back of the bag
10"x 4.1/4" (1 for the upper piece)
10"x 2. 1/4" ( 1 for the botton piece )

10" x 10.5" Batting ( 2 Pieces )
10"x4.5" batting ( 1 piece for the pocket )

10 " x 10.5" fabric for lining ( 2 pieces )
11.5 lace zipper
32" bias ribbon with lace
DMC brown thread
Wooden label ( if you like )

This time I have taken a bunch of pics so you can find the step by step easily.

Sew  four strips of  five squares , and sew together two  and another two of them.
Now you have got 2 blocks.
Take one of them and do a sandwich with batting and backing fabric.
Quilt by hand with embroidery  brown thread.

Add a bias ribbon like the pic and finish by hand with hidden stitches. This is the upper pocket.
Sew the brown fabrics  with other bias ribbon.
Lay the quilting piece ( pocket ) on that brown fabric and put another piece of bias ribbon and sew with your  machine. Finish again by hand.
Do some decorative stitches with embroidered  brown thread.
Add a new batting piece to this front of the bag
Now you have the front finished.

Now ,sew the other piece of  quilted piece with rectangles brown fabrics . Do a sandwich like before, quilt and sew decorative stitches. Now you have the back of the bag ( upper pic )

It´s  time to sew the lace zipper. You must to sew the the two pieces of lining to  back and front of the bag, laying the right side together.
Sew the zipper following these steps , sew around  letting something  open   and do the corners, bag and lining and trim the excess.

Take out  and sew the opening of the lining .

And , finally  add something more decorative  label if you want . Mine is made of wood.
I hope you enjoy this tutorial and maybe you can take your wips like me in your summer holidays.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend

Love
Mercedes

Hola !

Cosí  a máquina y rematé a mano.

  Hi there Sizzix friends.

Today I have a page to share that took me quite some time to make.
I enjoyed very much the process of adding bits and pieces continously and had I not decided enough is enough, I might be adding to it still......

I used my trusted Tattered Florals  Bigz die for the pink handmade flowers and also the Frameworks Trellies dies. Lots of mixed media goodness on this page and let me tell you I had sooo much fun creating it.

I love how all these colours look together.
The background teal colour was achieved mixing two different mists with gesso.

I misted my Tattered Florals with  a dark pink colour to add some more pizazz.

That's all for now.
I hope yooy enjoyed my page and also thanks for your sweet comments on my previous post.

Sizzix Bigz Die - Tattered Florals

Sizzix Frameworks Die - Trellis

And I used the June kit from Scraps of Elegance  containing papers from 7 Dots Studio. I also used mists and flowers from Prima Marketing, washi tape from Glitz, liquid pearls from Rangers, mini roses and stickers from Papirdesign.

Pretty Shoes Lay Out

Hi everybody!

Today I want to share with you a little Lay out I made this weekend. Sometimes I like to make LOs about little things that make me happy, like my latest addition to my shoe collection. This pair of shoes was a completely "coup de cour", so It deserved its own page in my album.

I have used one of the dies of the Life Made Simple range. They are so versatile! I have die cut the hexagons overall pattern an I have insert some of the little hexagons in place again, so it has more interest. For this LO I wanted also a layered look, and I have used some vellum, more pattern paper and the beautiful Damask border Thinlits die to achieve it.

Lastly, I put my tittle with some adhesive letters on the sentiment tag and as my final touch I have die cut a heart out of glitter card stock.

Happy Monday!

.............................

¡Feliz lunes!

Never give up......

Alma tumler i sneen

I had a beautiful picture of Alma in the snow and I wanted to make a wintery scrapbook page for that photo so I went with my favourite winter colour scheme: blues, red and white.

The page is fairly simple but that is the way I like my pages: I cut a piece of pattern paper to work as a frame for the photo and then I added various embellishments and a title around the photo.

I die cut the largest of the snowflakes from Sizzix Framelits Die Set 3PK - Snowflakes and divided it in two adding one part to the upper left corner of the photo and the other part to the lower right corner of the photo.

Besided from the snowflake I die cut multiple tags using the Sizzix Framelits Die Set 12PK - Tags, Sentiments, stamped them using various winter themed stamps and hang them from baker's twine wrapped around the entire layout a few times.

Supply list:
Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal)
Sizzix Accessory - Magnetic Platform for Wafer-Thin Dies
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 12PK - Tags, Sentiments
Cardstock
Patterned Paper: Basic Grey
Baker's twine
Sequins
Flock: Doodlebug
Stickers: LilyBee & American Crafts
Stamps: Papertrey Ink & Wplus9
Ink: Papertrey Ink & VersaFine

---o---

Hexagon Fun!

$

Hexagons are such a great design feature in the card maker's arsenal, they're like a circle designed by an engineer. I love their versatility and they are an essential for modern paper crafting styles.Having said all that I didn't know that they could be fun too!

I was looking through some old dies when I came across a decorative strip die called Flower, Folded which is basically a collection of perforated circles which when put together form a really cool 3D flower. I started to wonder what you could do with other shapes to create a similar effect when that little light bulb appeared above my head (maybe that's what caused my bald spot!!!)

It was at this point I grabbed my hexagon Framelits set and the rest as they say is history.

I started by die-cutting six identical hexagons from paper with a different pattern on either side (My Minds Eye - So Sophie range) I then used a tool to crease each one as shown in the diagram below. Once I had all six I placed them carefully onto a rectangle of adhesive tape sheet.

Once they were all stuck down I placed a pearl brad through the centre and matted them onto two further hexagons in contrasting shades of patterned card. Next, I folded a rectangle of stiff ivory card stock in half and placed my large hexagon die overhanging the folded edge (as indicated by the white arrow), this forms the hinge as the die cuts through both layers.

Finally I attached the matted layers to the hinged base card, I think the finished card is pretty cute!

I couldn't stop at one card so I thought I'd try a different colours, I know it's a bit early for Christmas cards but it made such a wicked snowflake. This time I folded the flaps closed and strategically applied some Pinflair Ice Diamond together with a pearl charm in the centre.

I was about to pack my tools away when I thought'what would it be like using say... Framelits hearts' well here's the answer.I cut six hearts as before and used a set square as a guide to add the creases, this end of the set square has an angle of 45 degrees which was perfect as luck would have it.

And here is the finished card. I'm sure that there is more mileage in this technique but I have to move onto more pressing matters. If you can think of any variations on this theme I would love to hear them.

Papers: K Box Scrap Plaisir, Echo Park
Alphabets: Basic Grey
Chipboards: Studio Calico
Stickers: K Box Scrap Plaisir
Dies-cuts: K Box Scrap Plaisir
Masking Tape K Box Scrap Plaisir
Stamps: Florilèges Design, K Box Scrap Plaisir
Chalk ink: Prima
Spray ink: Tattered Angels
Others: 3D foam

Dies:
659436 : Sizzix Bigz Die-Garden Greens
658300 : Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit

I started by working on my background using two stamps combined with two chalk ink colours: pink & blue.

Once my background is ready, I glued my picture matted on a turquoise paper.

I cut two branches out of matching sea green paper. The die cuts are glued on both sides of my page which gives a really nice effect for my lay-out.

Then I had fun decorating by adding colours, patterns or text with the help of stickers or die cuts.

Feel free to glue some elements with 3D adhesive like I did with a small heart coming from the Big Shot Starter Kit or with these pretty frangipani flowers.

Add some strips of masking tape here and there and here we are!

Thank you for visiting the blog!

Have a lovely day,

Karine

Hello !

Papiers : K Box Scrap Plaisir, Echo Park
Alphabets : Basic Grey
Chipboards : Studio Calico
Autocollants : K Box Scrap Plaisir
Dies-cuts : K Box Scrap Plaisir
Masking Tape K Box Scrap Plaisir
Tampons : Florilèges Design, K Box Scrap Plaisir
Encre Chalk : Prima
Encre en spray : Tattered Angels
Divers : Mousse 3D

Dies :
659436 : Sizzix Bigz Die-Garden Greens
658300 : Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit

Karine

Hello again - technology is driving me crazy today - I keep loosing what I've written and have to start again!!
Let's hope that I manage to complete this now - or I may have to go and lie down in a darkened room!!! or watch the tennis - I love watching Wimbledon - and the quality of the tennis has been amazing -even if some of the favourites have lost, my favourite is still playing, but even if he doesn't win it will have been a good year!!
So to continue where I left off last week - I've included all the dies and codes in case it will make it easier for you!

It's now only 5 weeks until Festival of Quilts! at the moment the amount of work to prepare and complete before then is crazy!! the new bunting is almost complete and I think it's looking lovely. Then I need to make some new table runners, using some of our lovely new dies and pin cushions - and that's just for a start - the stand is going to look amazing and I'm beginning to get excited ( as long as I don't look at the pile of fabric still to be used, oh and did I mention the 400 plus project packs that have to be put together.
I think I need a cup of tea!
Have fun.

Plastic pattern for hexagons

$

Today I come back to hexagons using the  Sizzix dies but with a trick for making nice hexagons with a  drawing centered.
I´m designing a blue quilt in a traditional style  with these pieces , yo- yos   that I told you some weeks ago and something more that I will tell you later.  So  I wanted some of my hexagons had a nice  finished design.

Supplies:

657900

659984

Fabric with a nice pattern for hexagons

The only thing I had to do it was to cut out the plastic with the hexagon die ( depends of the size you need for it you can change the die  ) with the Big Shot Machine, selected  the pattern  I liked for my hexagon and drew a line around of  the plastic hexagon. You can recicle the plastic from the boxes dies as I did.  Next , cut out with scissors..........

...... you can make beautiful hexagons deppending of what you chosen. These are mine, really nice , aren´t they ?

I know this is a slower method for cutting the fabric but I think it ´s great if your quilt needs these kind of hexagons with a draw in the middle.
I hope you enjoy this idea and have  good summer holidays!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Love
Mercedes

Fabric Covered Die Cut Wreath

I am back safe and sound from my #PaperTrail trip! It was busy, fun, exhausting, and quite satisfying all in one. To read about my travels, start at Day 1 here.

Scotty, my vintage trailer, did pretty well but there are a few things I need to fix before I leave again in September for a two month trek to California.  I loved meeting lots of new people and sharing the Sizzix love with them.

Throughout all of the traveling and teaching, I didn't really have much time to create! So it was nice to have some time in the studio today to make a fun little summer wreath for the trailer. I used one of my favorite dies- the Cupcake Ruffle, along with the Butterfly, Flower, Layers #9 and Leaves.

Apologies for bad pics- couldn't find my camera last night...

I used the Cupcake Ruffle for something other than to hold a cupcake. I cut three and layered them to make a wreath! Cover the matboard with fabric before die cutting keeping the fabric in position using spray adhesive...

Cover the matboard with fabric before die cutting keeping the fabric in position using spray adhesive... then run it through the Big shot three times...

Trim off end sections of each piece, form into a wreath shape and glue it together.

Die cut a selection of large and small butterflies, flowers and leaves for the wreath.

Assemble your pieces and start laying out the arrangement that you like.

Once they are in place, add clear adhesive Zotz to the bottom of each piece and press them onto the wreath. Die cut about ten layers of coffee filter flowers, insert brad in the middle and fluff layers up. Tuck leaves cut from green paper in among the flowers.

Add butterflies as desired. I curled the wings to give them dimension and added double layers to some to make them look as though they are flying off the wreath.

Add a piece of lace for a hanger and you are all set!

I would also like to invite you over to visit our sister site, The Artists on the Block, to see what amazing things are being created every day using Sizzix Artist Trading Blocks. Many of the projects are created by talented UK artists like Tracy EvansAnne Redfern and Jenny Buttons. You would be absolutely amazed at some of the things that can be created using blocks!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you are enjoying your summer...

Bente's card made with recycled paper bag.

Hi there!
It's Bente  here to share a card that I made mainly using my Sizzix Tattered florals die and a brown paper bag that I got some scrap goodies in. It feels good to do some upcycling now and then. In fact there are so many things around the house that make great embellishments for a card or a page :-)

Here are the pieces I cut out from the paper bag. I then used the Susans garden tool kit to prepare the layers before glueing it all together.

I love the shabby look it lends to my card.

I even cut out the  kraft coloured square for my background from the bag. I used some scalloped scissors.

Thanks for looking at my Sunday project! I hope you like it!
Hugs!!

Hei hei!

Håper kortet mitt fallt i smak!
Klem!

Kitchen paper towels and embossing folders

Today I am back with techniques using textured impressions folders and something so basic as kitchen paper towel.

From Sizzix I used:

I started by laying plenty of old newsapers to protect my working area. Then I place a single sheet of kitchen paper towel. It is important that it is plain white otherwise the patterns will show through. Then spray the chosen sprays around.

Once you are happy with all the colours, apply clear embossing powder while the ink of the sprays is still wet.

Use a heat gun to melt the powder. This step is to give the paper towel some rigidity in order for the next step. You can see that the paper now does not bend like it would without the embossing powder.

I trimmed a rectangle and embossed it. You can see on the right photo how it retains the patterned embossed.

To highlight the embossed pattern, I used Black StazOn all over. Dabbing gently in circular motions. I die cut the hearts with the rest of the towel using the starter kit framelit and bigz die.

To add the message, I used one of my stamp messages and layered on black card.

And this is the finished card.

I hope you like this technique and have fun with it!

Pinwheel birthday

$

Merle turned three this week-end and I wanted to make a fun and bright card for a summer-girl like Merle.

It is easy to make a pinwheel by die cutting a square, cutting half way in from each corner, folding the corners towards the midle of the square and glueing them down. I used Sizzix Framelits Die Set 6PK - Squares, Scallop to give my pinwheel even more details. As the base of the pinwheel I used a paper straw in a fun pattern.

Since Merle was born I've added butterflies to her scrapbooking layouts, cards etc. and this time aroud was no different: Tree little veneer butterflies had landed on the pinwheel.

In order to be able to add name and age to the card I used Sizzix Framelits Die Set 12PK - Tags, Sentiments to die cut two tags. I didn't want them to have the rounded end, så I folded the paper and let the die hang out over the fold.

This gave me two nicely cut tags that I attached around the paper straw using a stapler. Then I added Merle's name and age using letter stickers.

This is not a card that will easily fit in an envelope but I do think it is fun once in a while to make cards with a lot of dimension.

Supply list:
Letter sticker (LilyBee)
Cardstock
Patterned Paper (Echo Park)
Stapler (Tim Holz)
Veneer butterflies
Button

Ingredienser:

Sticker-bogstaver (LilyBee)
Karton
Møsntret papir (Echo Park)
Hæftemaskine (Tim Holz)
